Tom Winter has been shopping at DLM since he was five years old. His career started in Oakwood bagging groceries, and he has worked his way up to Vice President of Marketing and Director of Grocery, Frozen, and Dairy. The 1973 graduate of Wright State University has been a member of the DLM family for over 40 years. Over the years, he has spent numerous hours working in many departments at DLM to bring our customers the best service possible. He often travels the country in search of the latest and greatest clean products. His goal is to continue making DLM the very best at serving the needs of our customers. Every decision he makes is made with this in mind. In his spare time, he enjoys boating, gardening, and above all spending time with his family.

With spices, quality does make a difference — a big difference. To see for yourself, open the lid of a any normal supermarket brand, take dill for example, and compare it with our Dorothy Lane Market Dill. You will note a marked difference in quality and depth of aroma. That quality directly translates into much better flavor in your food. What makes our own Dorothy Lane Market brand so good? Our spices are carefully picked from the best sources from around the world and then dried in small batches fresh as we order them. The company that we work with, Vann’s, is a small family-run company and is as fanatical about food and flavor as we are at DLM. Our spices are available in all the traditional varieties as well as several unique ones.

Even salt is no mundane affair at DLM. Until you’ve experienced it, it’s hard to believe that the type of salt you use could make a difference in your food.

DLM Salt and Pepper Grinders
Dorothy Lane Market offers a variety of fine sea salts imported from Europe. The problem with most of the containers is that you have to sprinkle the salt with your fingers or a spoon. We've come to the rescue with our new salt and pepper grinders! They come filled with sea salt from the waters of the Pacific Ocean, or with the famed peppercorns from Tellicherry, India, which are larger, blacker, and more fragrant than other peppercorns. Once they are empty, fill them with your favorite sea salt, such as Maldon from England or Esprit du Sel from France.
