About Jeni Britton

Jeni Britton is the president and founder of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. She has garnered a large cult-like following, as can be attested by the long lines at her North Market, Grandview, Short North, and Bexley shops in Columbus. Artisan ice creams like Jeni's, a combination of fine art and fine food to produce flavors such as Salty Caramel, Strawberry Rose Petal, and Grapefruit & Hibiscus Yogurt, have never been done before. She has elevated ice cream to a gourmet dining experience and has made Columbus the gourmet ice cream capital nationwide.

Jeni's Sour Cherry Lambic Sorbet won the 2008 Gallo Family Vineyard Gold Medal, and her Pear Riesling Sorbet was last year's first runner up. Jeni was named one of Columbus' Forty Under Forty in 2007, and in 2006 was a finalist for the Columbus Chamber of Commerce Small Business Leader Award. In 2005 she won the Food & Wine magazine Tastemaker Award as one of "the top young talent in the country who changed the world of food by 35". She has been featured in the pages of such notable magazines as Food & Wine, Wine Spectator, and Midwestern Living. Inspired by the Slow Food Movement, she is the founder of the Central Ohio Local Matters Project, and holds the local chef-chair of the Chef's Collaborative, an organization that brings chefs and farmers together.
