About Chef Aparna Kad

Aparna “Appy” Thukral Kad—fondly known as Chef Appy—is the passionate chef-owner behind My Kolorful Kitchen, the progressive Indian bistro nestled in Mason, Ohio. Her culinary artistry expresses deeply personal experiences and cultural richness. Born in Bombay (now Mumbai), Appy traveled widely across India during her childhood thanks to her father’s job. These early experiences exposed her to the rich tapestry of Indian regional cuisines—and the varied techniques, spices, and stories behind them In June 2022, she opened My Kolorful Kitchen—a cozy lunch bistro where she offers a rotating menu of vegetarian and non-vegetarian specials, refreshed daily, alongside catering and familypack options Every Dish Has a Story—and a Personal Touch Chef Appy’s philosophy centers on authenticity, freshness, and sensory delight. She prepares all her dishes in-house each morning, ensuring every meal resonates with Indian taste. She delights in sharing flavors from across India—whether it’s a comforting biryani (made with chicken or vegan jackfruit), soothing dals, lively curries, or Indo-Chinese fusions—and emphasizes that even the same dish name can vary vastly by region Her Tag Line - "A Plateful of Stories”, as she believes every plate has a story and most heartful conversations are shared over a meal. Personal Interactions and storytelling elevate the dining experience.
