Our Meat department is something we are very passionate about, and for good reason. After all, we are talking about what is often called the center of the plate. We ultimately want to provide the absolute best eating experience you can get anywhere using the highest quality meats with service that is unmatched.
We made these commitments in the 1980s, long before it was trendy to do so, by sourcing meats that are lifetime antibiotic free and contain no added hormones, fed a 100% vegetarian diet that never contains animal by-products, and are humanely raised by responsible farms. Why did we do it? As our predecessor Jack Gridley says, "because it was the right thing to do." We still stand by this 40+ years later.
We accomplish this by sourcing the best product from those who share our enthusiasm and values. We often visit the farms, get to know our vendors, and even shake the hand of the farmers, as this is where it all starts.
We look for vendors who support the small family farmers who are as passionate as we are. They take pride in providing the best-tasting food by practicing safe, high-quality standards. We look for those who are good stewards of the land and take care of their animals. These farmers know that a happy, healthy, humanely raised, stress-free animal is going to provide a better eating experience.
All of these things come together to support our mission to provide the very best for our customers, both in terms of quality and knowledgeable butchers, so you can have the best eating experience.
