Fuel Your Grill With the Good Stuff

USDA Prime Steak

The word “prime” is often used inaccurately, so look for USDA Prime when it comes to this distinction. Only about 2% of cattle make this grade, a result of intrinsic marbling that adds richness throughout when it’s cooked. A USDA Prime steak results in an experience for the home chef that rivals fine dining.

GRILLING SUCCESS

By combining well-marbled USDA Prime beef, salt, fire, and a few simple rules, you'll have steak success! Just remember that timing is everything!

  1. Brush with olive oil and season with kosher salt or coarse sea salt. Let the beef absorb the salt before grilling. 
  2. Sear for two minutes and rotate the steak 45 degrees, searing for another two minutes to get perfect grill marks. Flip steak with tongs and repeat the process. Then move the steak to the indirect heat side of the grill.
  3. Use a meat thermometer to get the right internal temperature (to start, 120-125°F for a rare steak). Pull the steak and let it rest for 10 minutes to re-absorb the juices.
