Biscottificio Antonio Mattei has embarked on a new biscotto adventure, replacing the almonds of their classic biscotti with large chunks of dark chocolate. The bittersweet flavor of the chocolate, along with incomparable airy, crunchy texture and a yellow tint from the free-range egg yolks used in the dough, put a new twist on tradition.
Antonio Mattei Biscotti is the "original" and has been produced in Tuscany since 1858. The recipe is still kept a secret of the Pandolfini family who inherited the bakery in 1904 and are now in their fourth generation of operation. These are the perfect way to start your day, unwind with a glass of wine, or end a great meal with a cappuccino or espresso. The loaves are hand shaped, baked, and sliced while they are still warm.
