Cake, Paint, & Sip: A Sweet Escape Into Creativity

Sip & paint with a cup of coffee, juice or a mimosa in hand while DLM's own pastry artist Rose Hockman guides you step by step in this fun hands-on class, exploring essential cake techniques while also unleashing your inner artist by treating the uniced cake as a blank canvas to be explored and celebrated. No previous experience needed, just a willingness to play with color and enjoy the process. Choose from seasonal or themed cake designs and make them your own with creative touches.

Each student will paint and decorate their own cake for two and then take it home to enjoy. All materials and tools will be provided. Come ready to learn, sip, decorate, and paint your way to a memorable morning! Coffee, a mimosa, and light snacks will be provided.

About Rose Hockman

Rose is a skilled bread shop baker at Dorothy Lane Market and a proud graduate of Johnson & Wales University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Baking and Pastry Arts. Her passion for the craft began early, learning alongside her mother in the kitchen, where she discovered the joy of serving others through thoughtfully made desserts. With formal culinary training and hands-on professional experience, Rose brings both technical expertise and an engaging teaching style to her classes. Cake decorating is her primary passion, with a strong focus on precision, creativity, and foundational technique, but her skill set also spans plated desserts and artisan breads. Rose is deeply committed to helping home bakers build confidence, master core skills, and create beautiful, bakery-quality results.

Culinary Center Class Cancellation & Registration Policy

Culinary Center class registrations may be cancelled up to 7 days prior to the scheduled class date to receive a full refund, with proper notification. Cancellations made with notification after the 7-day deadline are eligible for credit toward future culinary class registrations if notification is given prior to the day of a class. If you are unable to attend any class, you are welcome to send a substitute in your place. To give proper notifications for a cancellation or notice of a substitution, please contact the culinary center location where your class is taking place. Any no-call, no-show participants forfeit refunds or class credits. The DLM Culinary Center reserves the right to cancel a class, when necessary, due to inclement weather, emergencies, or insufficient enrollment, and may also substitute instructors or food items when required. In the event that a class is cancelled, registered students will receive a full refund or credit, as applicable.
